The VIVA Asia Pre-Forum Workshop has been running annually for many years with the aim to improve treatment outcomes in the region through education on the management of leukaemia and hidden tumours and discussions of supportive care and treatment related issues. World experts with experience in collaborating and establishing cancer control programs in developing countries participate and provide educational lectures and lead the group discussions. Regional oncologists present their experience and programs, submit abstracts and their hospital profile to the meeting. The workshop has not only enhanced the medical knowledge of the participants but has also led to a deeper insight and understanding of local epidemiologic data, facility capabilities, treatment outcomes and supportive care issues in the region; and fostered a budding collaborative group of Southeast/South Asian paediatric oncologists.
